The new flagship model for Tata Motors will the Hexa. This is a new six-seater MUV that will be launched this year. It is a six seater and hence the name Hexa. Tata Motors has completely re-done the Aria and this is a more sophisticated version of the same platform and a similar powertrain.
Tata Hexa Overview
Tata Motors are on a roll with the new found enthusiasm running across the company’s philosophy. They have already started making an impact with the Zest and Bolt series of cars, which marks the Tata’s new generation of cars for the Indian market. At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the Indian heavy vehicle manufacturer previewed a six-seater , which will be officially launched at the 2016 Auto Expo in India. The Hexa will be based on the Aria platform but will have much technological advancement over the existing Aria. With the Hexa , Tata Motors will restart its MPV innings as the Aria could not do great against the Toyota Innova, due to many reasons. The pricing went wrong and then its design too received negative criticism by many.
Exterior and Interior of Tata Hexa
The Upcoming Tata Hexa will share its overall profile with the Aria but then it will get lots of modern additions. The front face looks completely redone with sleek headlamps and newly styled honeycomb radiator grille. The humanity line, which was introduced on the front profile with the Zest and Bolt, will make it to the Hexa as well. The fog lamp housing area has got a new shape which will also incorporate Day Running Lamps. The Concept has matte plastic claddings with evident wheel arches hinting at a stronger silhouette in the production variant. It will get 10-spoke alloy wheels a standard on all variants. Getting rid of Christmas tail lights, it gets a new LED taillight assembly giving a more defined profile to the rear.
Inside the New Tata Hexa, the interiors will be inclined to give a more upmarket feel with premium quality of materials and more feature rich interiors. It will get a touch screen infotainment unit with Harman Kardon music system. The screen will also help the occupants control the air-conditioner unit, music settings, Bluetooth telephony etc.
Engine, Performance and Mileage of Tata Hexa
In terms of power train, the New Hexa concept gets a 2.2-litre four-cylinder, VARICOR turbo-diesel engine which makes a peak power output of 154bhp and a peak torque of 400Nm. The concept measures 4764mm in length, 1895mm in width, 1,780mm in height, and has a large wheelbase of 2850mm. It will also offer first in class terrain response system much like its British acquisition, Land Rover vehicles. The all-wheel drive system will also give it a performance edge over its rivals.
Conclusion of Tata Hexa
The Tata Hexa will primarily target the Toyota Innova as the latter has been ruling the MPV market for more than a decade. The next generation Innova will arrive in India almost at the same time the Hexa launches in India. We expect Tata Hexa prices to range between Rs 13 lakhs to Rs 19 lakhs.
