Engine and Transmission
The Jaguar XJL is available in two engine options- 2.0-litre petrol and 3.0L turbocharged diesel. While the former is good for 237bhp of power at 5,500rpm and 340Nm of torque at 1,750rpm, the oil burner produces 271bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 600Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. Both the engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels of the car.
Performance and Handling
The XJL petrol accelerates to 100kmph from zero in mere 7.5 seconds and hits a top speed of 241kmph. On the other hand, the diesel version of the sedan does 0-100kmph in just 6.4 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. Like other Jaguars, the XJL is a good handler. The suspensions are tuned to absorb most bumps and the large potholes easily, but the low ground clearance and massive wheelbase do need extra care while going through rugged Indian roads.
Mileage
The 2993 cc Diesel - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 12 kmpl in city and 14 kmpl on highways, while the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 10 kmpl on urban roads and 12 kmpl and freeways, respectively.
The Jaguar XJL sedan is equipped with a range of safety and security features including airbags for driver and front occupants, curtain side airbags, anti-whiplash technology, seatbelt reminder, rear child safety locks, Lower Anchors, tethers for children, dynamic stability control with TRAC DSC model, Electronic Parking Brake, ABS, EBD, ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and Traction Control.
