The Hyundai Eon is one of the most stylish looking hatchback this price point. The Alto 800 has simple styling, which the Kwid looks rugged. It is only the Eon that is funky. The Eon’s Fluidic Design makes it look stylish. The interiors of the Eon are also stylish and this makes it look good. The interiors are also simple and appealing in looks. The Eon is now available with a 800cc engine and 1.0-litre with a five-speed manual transmission. The Eon returns an efficiency of 21.2km/l. There is even LPG variant that is available on the Hyundai Eon as well. The 1.0-litre ending competes with the Alto K10.
Exterior
The Eon is the new entry level vehicle for Hyundai. This new hatchback follows the Fluidic design and that makes it look stylish and even jazzy. The small grille with headlamp styling stands out. The side profile is very tall boyish and this indicates more head room. The rear also looks stylish with the tail lamps and the small rear windshield. Hyundai Eon comes in 6 colours, namely, Polar White, Pristine Blue, Red Passion, Retro Shine, Sleek Silver, Stardust.

Interior

The Eon when it was launched had funky interiors. The two-spoke steering wheel on the Eon looks stylish and the instrument cluster is simple to read. There is gear shift indicator in the cluster. The centre console is simple with two AC vents, an in-dash music system with tall boy stance. This improves the head room for front and even rear passengers. The Eon’s boot isn’t very large. In terms of features there are front power windows, in-dash music system and single airbag. 


Engine & Transmission
The Hyundai Eon comes with a 800cc engine that produces about 55bhp of power and 74Nm of peak torque. The second engine is a powerful one. This produces about 68bhp and 95Nm. These come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Performance and Handling
The performance of the Eon 1.0 is good enough. The 800cc engine is more of mileage tuned than performance. The Eon’s handling is decent too. The steering wheel is light that makes it easy to drive in the city, however on the highway you loose confidence on bends. The top speed of the 800cc Eon is 135km/hr.
Braking System
The brakes on the Eon are decent. It has disc brakes at the front, while the rear has drum brakes. This hatchback doesn’t even offer ABS even as an optional feature.
Mileage
The 814 cc LPG - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 16 kmpl in city and 18 kmpl on highways, while the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 19 kmpl on urban roads and 21 kmpl and freeways, respectively.
Safety Features
The Eon comes with a single driver airbag, which is available on the top-end variant. The other features are engine immobiliser, fog lamps, impact beam of the doors and the fllor, then there is self restraining seat belts for the driver and passenger. Then there is a remote control security system as well.
Verdict
The Hyundai Eon is an entry level hatchback. This has stylish looks, funky interiors to make it look contemporary. This hatchback comes with good enough features and it is very appealing to the youth.
Comparison
The Hyundai Eon can be compared with the Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Renault Kwid. The Eon competes with both the 800cc and K10 versions of the Alto. The Kwid at the moment is only available with a 800cc engine at the moment.
