Latest on Audi A4: 01 July, 2016

The latest generation of the Audi A4 has been spied on test in China in the more appealing long-wheelbase form. Shown at the Beijing Motor Show earlier this year, this stretched version of the regular A4 (labelled A4 L) has been designed specifically for the Chinese market. At 4.81m in length, it's 40mm longer than the previous A4 L and comes with additional legroom for the rear seat occupants.

Audi A4 Overview:

For years together, there has been a constant battle between the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Their rivalry is unlike any other. In 2016, Audi will reveal its new age A4 sedan which is supposedly the best A4 yet, making Audi super confident about its success. The A4 also has a new rival in the form of Jaguar XE which is already tagged as the 3-Series killer in terms of driving dynamics.

Already revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Show, the 2016 Audi A4 will enter its fifth generation with a grander size and form. Audi has not made any changes in the overall shape and has instead added length. Surprisingly, the engineers have been successful in reducing the weight too.

Exterior and Interior of Audi A4 2016:

To the normal, the 2016 A4 might just look like a regular facelift but in real, a lot of work has gone in this new generation model. Firstly, there meticulous detailing and efforts have given it a best in class aerodynamics of 0.23. In addition to the gain in length, Audi has also added 16mm of width to make it more spacious for the occupant’s comfort along with adding length to its wheelbase. The new A4 will have a striking design with restyled and edgy headlights. Like the A3, it is expected to feature day time running lamps to make it look appealing in dark. We also hope Audi offers Matrix lights on the new A4 which will make it far more equipped                                                                             than its rivals.

It will get the brand’s new 3D radiator grille with chrome surround to lend a premium appeal. The complex contours flowing on the front profile make it look wider than actual. To the side, the window line gets a bright surround with body colored bumpers. Like the A6 Matrix, the 2016 A4 will get redesigned and larger alloys with wider tyres to make sure handles a lot better than the existing. The rear will get a mild touch with an elevated boot lip and twin chrome exhaust pipes. The shape of the tail lights will also be changed for an edgy look.

Premium and better, will be the feel inside the new A4 as the cabin gets loads of up market additions. In fact, there are some who claim the interiors of the A4 are inspired by that of the Audi Prologue concept. It will get MMI plus with improved navigation and voice assist. The instrumental cluster will also receive an update with a high resolution and larger screen.

Performance of Audi A4 2016:

When launched in India, the new gen Audi will feature TFSI and TDI power trains. The efforts on the new gen A4 has resulted in gain of power by 25% also increasing fuel efficiency by 21%. There will be a new 1.4 TFSI motor which will make 148 bhp of power while the 2.0-litre TDI makes 177 bhp of power and 380 Nm of torque. It will have the 7-speed dual clutch S-tronic suspension. Audi also claims to have worked hard on the driving dynamics as the lighter weight will add as a boon to the overall behavior of the car. The suspension setup have been worked on too making it inclined towards offering agility

Conclusion on Audi A4 2016:

Upon its launch in India, the 2016 Audi A4 will definitely spark a great fight among its other German rivals. Mercedes Benz has already updated the C-Class to make it as classy and sophisticated as the S-Class. BMW 3-Series still has great driving dynamics to back up its appeal while the new entrant in the business, the Jaguar XE combines the best of luxury and performance. 2015 Audi A6 will be priced between Rs 37 lakhs to Rs 40 lakhs.
